Ohlins RXF38 M.2 Air TTX18 29" Fork

Developed for trail, enduro, and e-MTB, the RXF38 m.2 single crown shares several key technologies with its double crown sibling, the DH38

The brand-new RXF38 m.2 is available for 29" bikes, with five different iterations offering a range of travel from 160 to 180 mm and crown offset options of 44 and 51 mm, built around the TTX18 damper, Öhlins' trademark, and the exclusive three-chamber air spring.

The new addition to the Öhlins line brings 38 mm stanchions to the brand’s single crown range, a trail-optimized chassis, confidence-inspiring TTX damping, and unparalleled adjustability. It is the product of Öhlins' long-term close collaboration with the Specialized Gravity team, winners of the UCI DH World Championship, where milliseconds gained lead to victories.

To get the best of double crown performance in a single crown platform, Öhlins applied lessons learned from developing the World Cup-winning DH38 m.1 fork to its latest range addition. The new RXF38 m.2 features an almost identical iteration of the same race-proven damping system and air spring that brought the DH38 m.1 World Cup glory. With a reinforced chassis, adapted from the DH38 for trail use, equally thick stanchions, and the same impressive DH-level adjustability, the new RXF38 m.2 holds firm when the trail turns downhill.

38 mm stanchions: bigger is better
The new fork boasts 38 mm diameter stanchions that offer increased stiffness for a "point and shoot" ride on the trails. By adopting larger stanchions, Öhlins has reduced flex where it matters most. Stiffness doesn’t have to mean harshness, and Öhlins worked hard to find the perfect flex pattern—in braking, cornering, and impact—to provide greater control across a wide range of riding and terrain. More control means faster, smoother descents, but also greater comfort; the bombproof performance of the RXF38 m.2 makes DH tracks and well-earned enduro descents easier, so you can go faster for longer. What goes down must come up, however, so finding the best balance between bombproof downhill performance and featherweight climbing was a key goal during fork development.

The exact compromise between DH38 and RXF36
Öhlins’ RXF38 m.2 weighs just over 200 g more than its slimmer sibling, the RXF36 m.2. To achieve this, Öhlins shaved precious grams by completely revising the lower part of its predecessor, the RXF38 m.1, to find a middle ground between the DH38 and RXF36. The crown and stanchions were also fine-tuned test after test to maximize the fork’s stiffness-to-weight ratio. The end result is a fork designed to float over climbs and rocket downhill.

TTX18 damping can handle the hits
When it comes to bigger bumps, the highly efficient air spring and TTX18 damper of the fork combine to swallow roots and rocks, maintaining speed and grip on the toughest lines. The fork’s revised chassis and uncompromising stiffness of the 38 mm stanchions are complemented by Öhlins’ TTX18 damping system. Inherited from the DH38 m.1 and adapted to the single crown platform, the TTX18 damping system delivers world-class race-proven performance. The wider damping pressure bandwidth improves valve response, with an 18 mm piston optimized for trail riding that offers excellent sensitivity to small bumps to keep tires planted on technical terrain.

Impressive adjustability and simple setup
The fork’s dual-piston, three-chamber system allows full, easy, tool-free adjustment from initial movement to bottom-out. Like the DH38 m.1, the RXF38 m.2 benefits from a wide range of intuitive adjustments. Riders can easily fine-tune fork performance to suit any terrain, with 15 clicks of low-speed compression and rebound damping adjustment, 3 clicks of high-speed compression adjustment, plus a climb mode setting.

Technologies

TTX Technology
The dual air chamber TTX damping system is used on both front forks and rear shocks in the premium product range with the highest performance demands. The dual air chamber design controls the bidirectional oil flow through the piston and dual tubes. This allows oil to be regulated as it passes through the compression and rebound valves, controlling pressure on each side of the piston. The rider will notice the shock unit offers unmatched control and flawless damping, regardless of conditions. Öhlins invested many hours of design to perfect the dual air chamber design and achieve perfect damping.
